Does it matter if your kids behave at your photo session?
As a family photographer, I get asked all the time if kids really need to be on their best behavior for our photo sessions. The short answer? No! I understand the desire to have your kids looking perfect and following all directions for those annual family portraits. Some families want the smiling, color-coordinated, nobody-is-fighting photos. But you know what? Those perfect images aren’t what family photography is about for me.
No! Here’s Why
My photography style is all about capturing your family’s unique connections, personalities, and real moments as they naturally unfold. Those unpredictable, unscripted moments are where the true beauty lies.
Kids don’t always behave the way we envision at photo sessions. They get goofy, make funny faces, refuse to sit still, or need to stick close to you sometimes. It’s age-appropriate behavior that actually makes for awesome candid photos. I pride myself on being able to work with kids and families as they are. My goal is to document your family’s real life and interactions, however that plays out at our session. The result will be a gallery that will help you remember what this stage of your family’s life felt like. The most beautiful family photos are the ones than capture feelings over poses.
If you don’t want to worry about how your kids behave at your photo session, and you care about preserving your memories in an unscripted way – I’d love to hear from you.
